It is with a heavy heart that TJ Dub Web Design cuts off support for IE6. Internet Explorer 6.0 was released to the world in August of 2001 and, at the time, was a revolutionary browser that made great strides in CSS support, JavaScript and DOM, and more.
However, all good things must come to an end. Supporting a browser that is closing in on 8 years old is just something that we cannot support in any good conscience. In 2001, IE6 supported many things other browsers didn't. However, in 2009, IE6 is an anchor that is holding back the future of the web. Supporting a browser that old means inflated code, hacks to make it work in an old browser, and leaving out features that don't work across the board. Rather than face these circumstances, we're cutting off support for this old browser and recommending many other free solutions that are much better supported in today's internet. Firefox, IE7, Safari and Chrome are all free and respectable browsers.
Of course all our sites are still viewable in IE6, but no longer optimized for it. Some features may not work and, depending on the site and its complexity, the layout may be a little broken. Web design and development is a fast moving field, and supporting old software holds us back.
